2019 Gala

Our 2019 Annual Homegrown Health Gala

It “is” easy being green That was the color and theme of the Joseph P Cory’s 4th Annual Homegrown Health Gala, which took place on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the DoubleTree Hilton, Boca Raton.

Guests were treated to delicious, yet healthful food, with SCT-15 signature cocktails, pass around farm to table delicacies, and a specially prepared gourmet cheese by one of our area’s vegan Chefs. When you think it could not get better, the reception’s music was over the top amazing and kept the evening alive all night long. Thank you Marcos Nobrega, Federico Britos and his band, and a special show by the Milongo El  Carbeceo dancers. A premium silent auction boasted some health and wellness innovations, plus travel, art and novelty items; the competitive bidding yielded some happy winners. Unique merchandise – great prices, all in the name of wellness and wellbeing!

A presentation showcasing this year’s foundation  highlights, and future goals, educated and captivated attendees. The work that was accomplished, in support of the Foundation’s health and wellness initiatives made an impact in our community, and all those who benefited from our efforts. It did not fall on deaf ears, and monies were raised to support three new, up and coming worth “Garden of Hope” projects! Special awards were given to student Karina Brown, the 2019 “Pay it Forward” scholarship recipient, and teacher/garden club sponsor Holly Nilsen, our 2019 “Homegrown Hero”.

Guests left feeling “all wrapped up” in the warmth of the evening’s festivities, as they were surprised to learn the chair covers were green pashminas for all to take, and serve as a great reminder of this wonderful Gala!

If you missed this memorable night, there will be another one next year, but in the meantime, look for the Foundation’s other engaging community events, and the new Healthy Lifestyle Symposium (HELIS) this coming October 19th.
