Helping “Hands”

Accomplishing big thing does take a village, but it also needs the generous donation from the Joseph P Cory Foundation, an infusion (grant) from Whole Kids Foundation, teachers, students, and volunteers. This is how our newest Garden of Hope took shape.

We got off to a slower unanticipated start, noticing iguanas glancing hungerly in our direction, however, we are proud to say, we are officially growing at Lake Worth Middle School.

On January 24th, the foundation arrived with gardening gloves and tools, iguana-proof (fingers crossed) protective structures, seeds, and seedlings. Students had been waiting for this day, and eagerly gathered to begin completing all work, big and small. It was a sought after “dress down” day that was two-fold, as these Choice Program students wear medical scrubs and coats during the school year, as part of their standards and protocol. These photos proudly display a hard days work and you can to see the results!

Many thanks to Principal Taylor for moving things along, Mrs. Galvez, Dr. Benavente, Jay and Diane Zapeck, and School Board of Director Erica Whitfield; our “Villagers”.

A short timeline movie will be produced by Kylar Productions, and we look forward to sharing it with all of you. We hope these photos and our “stories” will inspire more of you to invest in our foundation, time, talent, and treasure. Our students could not benefit from all of this without you.
