Public health promotes and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, learn, work and play. While a doctor treats people who are sick, those working in public health try to prevent people from getting sick or injured in the first place; they promote wellness by encouraging healthy behaviors. From conducting research, to educating about health, people in the field of public health work to assure the conditions in which people can be healthy by means of education.

Ms. Stephanie Camhi, our U of M lead student, co-created the program, which included pre and post testing, curriculum, and data collection. Engaging the two school gardens recently donated by the foundation, with the help and support of two exceptional garden club teachers, the work has been ongoing since its inception. Please review some of the documents that were written to support the work as it unfolded.
