“Shining A Light” on Student Health

The Joseph P Cory Foundation was thrilled to have T.A. Walker and his fabulous WPTV news team visit the Hammock Pointe Elementary School Garden of Hope. T.A.’s segment entitled “Shining a Light” did just that at 5:00 AM on “pre sunrise” March 16, 2023!  Special thanks for Principal Cook and teachers Mrs. Nilsen and Mrs. Gallagher, for making this happen so early in the morning.

While our Palm Beach County school garden clubs consist of 30 or more students, we appreciate the turnout and commend parents for bringing a handful of our club kids, in addition to school staff, to meet and greet Mr. Walker. Sharing their excitement and pride, and with great accuracy, students showed off their garden yield, naming each herb and vegetable, as well as what they liked about their gardening experiences.

We are certain Mr. Walker captured the impact garden education has on students, and we hope he returns to show the community how they can collaborate to educate with us. Please call to see how you, your business, or organization can help us plants seeds of change.
