Ready, Set, Grow at Riverbend Park with local veterans

We had our own Veterans Day on Tuesday November 29th, the first of many for this season. A special sector from the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs (VA) joined the Joseph P Cory Foundation (JPCF), to share a “Ready, Set, Grow” program in the Garden of Hope at Riverbend Park, Jupiter.
After a lecture that touched briefly on several topics, from mind, body and spirit benefits of gardening, its sustainability, harvesting and nutrition, Vets walked into the garden to see, touch, and taste this rapidly growing bounty. Questions and answers were exchanged, clippings were gathered by request, and everyone made their way back to the pavilion to plant their own seeds, which taken, and will be nurtured until maturity. The VA does have a garden club, and hopes to soon have a working garden, something the JPCF wishes to collaborate with.
It was evident in the smiles, this exchange brought out such positive feelings. Truly, it was an honor and a pleasure to do something meaningful with this group, after all, they have done so much for us.
