The end of May marks the conclusion of the school year in Palm Beach County. Additionally, the time to close and prepare our garden sites, and say farewell to our school club students. Remember, gardens, students, and teachers need to rest over the summer!
Students love our garden closing celebrations. Everyone takes a turn to clip back herbs and vegetables and comes to understand how to utilize them for refreshing and healthy summer options. Be sure to see our next newsletter to learn how to maintain your love of gardening through the next several months and boost your health all summer long.
At Hammock Pointe, we harvested mint, basil, and the remaining veggies. We talked about how to make delicious “coolers” with fruits and herbs, and their nutritional value. Students got to make and taste ginger lemonade, and said it was better than packaged drinks! Imagine that.
Students received recipes, tastings, and other healthy snacks, along with “graduation” certificates recognizing their successful gardening year. Most fun, was taking pictures with Miss Nada, complete with lots of hugs and well wishes.
It was a joy to hear what our gardeners learned this year, including their favorite recipes, lessons, and overall experiences. See our little video shorts for a glimpse of some sincere and happy kids.
