New Kids on the Block!

Congratulations to teachers Zarina Fortunato, first grade educator, and Kerry Maione, ESOL coordinator at Sandpiper Shores Elementary in Boca Raton. Kerry and Zarina are one of our latest Gardens of Hope grant recipients, and we are excited to watch great health take root and grow this year!  Hats off to Principal Coyle’s support and all those who gathered on September 28th, to make it happen.

A lot of work and dedication was put forth, to fulfill their vision of health and wellbeing through garden education for their campus. Parents, staff, students and the Joseph P Cory Foundation were in place at 8:00 am, to beat the heat and complete a clean-up, build out, and soil amendment. Next steps… planting this week, and a yearlong of learning and fun, implementing the foundation’s Let it Grow curriculum.

We look forward to sharing updates and photos of our collaboration this year. Currently, we ask any community partners to inquire about opportunities for donating this program to schools in your area.
