Ready, Set, Grow Hammock Pointe!

Today was the jump start of Mrs. Nielson’s Garden Club. Hammock Pointe in Boca Raton, a T1 campus, is one of the Joseph P Cory Foundation’s original Gardens of Hope and boasts one of our most active groups.

Today students were taught the basics of a garden and its potential bounty. They were given all the materials necessary to plant seeds, that ultimately will mature and be placed in their outdoor garden. Lots of choices to pick from, and once each child selected, they were planted into a biodegradable seed starting tray with organic soil/plant market, additionally, they received a “seed predictor” chart and a ruler.

Students will care for, and monitor seedling growth, as other lessons and activities ensue. It is proven, when kids nurture their own seeds from the beginning, their “relationship” with its growth, and all that it provides, increases healthier food choices in their future.

Help impact students, one seed at a time. Donate, support, or sponsor a Garden of Hope today!
